岚山经济开发区是山东省首批核准公告的省级经济开发区，面积95.8平方公里，规划建设钢铁配套产业园、化工产业园、木材产业园、食品药品产业园、高端装备制造产业园和物流产业园，重点发展钢铁、石化、木材等特色主导产业，形成以蓝色经济为主导的现代临港产业聚集区。成为山东省最重要的钢铁生产基地和油气储运加工基地、亚洲最大的海洋仿生食品生产基地、全国沿海最大的木材进出口和加工基地。

Lanshan Economic Development Zone is appointed one of the first provincial-level development zones in Shandong Province, covering an area of 95.8 square kilometers. It is planned to build iron & steel supporting industrial park, chemical industrial park, timber industrial park, food and drug industrial park, high-end equipment manufacturing industrial park and logistics industrial park, and focus on the development of leading specialty industries such as iron & steel, petrochemicals, timber and so on, to form a modern port-related industrial agglomeration area dominated by the blue economy. It has become the most important steel production base and oil & gas storage and processing base in Shandong Province, the largest marine bionic food production base in Asia, and the largest timber import and export and processing base along the coast of China.
